Battering Intervention & Prevention Program (BIPP)

Our Mission

BIPPs in Texas aims to eliminate male-to-female intimate partner violence by providing services to batterers, promoting safety for victims, and bringing about the social change necessary to end battering and all other forms of abuse.

Here at STAR Council, we offer a 24-week course where participants work together to better one another striving to end domestic violence in their homes.

STAR Council is a Texas Department of Criminal Justice accredited program since 2012.

Our services are available in:
  • Cleburne, Tx

  • Weatherford, Tx

  • Stephenville, Tx

Here at STAR Council, the safety of our participants and staff members is very important to us. In an effort to prevent the spread of the coronavirus we are holding all individual and group sessions via ZOOM until further notice.

Steps for Program Completion

Step One:

  • Intake: The Intake session gathers information and determines if the services offered by the BIPP at STAR Council are appropriate for the participant.

Step Two:

  • Orientation: The orientation session provides an overview of the program components as well as the expectations of participants.

Step Three:

  • Groups: After a participant has completed both the Intake and Orientation steps, they then move on to the 24 weekly group sessions. Each session is 2 hours long. Groups are normally held on weekends to better accommodate the work schedules of participants.

Session Topics include:

  • Non-threatening behaviors

  • Respect

  • Trust and Support

  • Accountability and Honesty

  • Sexual Respect

  • Partnership

  • Negotiation & Communication

  • Parenting

There are two individual sessions with the facilitator, one at the midpoint of groups (around the 12th week) and one before the last group to check on the participant’s progress.

Step Four:

  • Graduation: At the participants last group, there is a graduation ceremony in which he will be provided an opportunity to validate his commitment to change through processing his experience and will receive a certificate to officially document his successful completion of the program.
